Students will form into small groups and decide on an appropriate and meaningful movie scene to re-create. The chosen scenes should include many different camera angles and ample dialogue between actors (must have scene approved by the teacher). Movie scenes will be approximately 5 - 6 minutes in length. Students will obtain the scripts and make storyboards to utilize during production of the scenes. They will match each shot as used in the original movie. Students will also match props, wardrobe and various locations to match as closely to the movie as possible. Over this four week journey, students learn what goes into pre production (research, scripting, writing, preparation of props, wardrobe and location scouting). They will also learn about the actual production process, recording scenes by following a movie script and storyboards, directing, acting, technical components such as proper exposure and good audio. If you are enrolled at the honors level, you will be required to complete the honors research project. Our research project requires a 4 to 5 page research paper, works cited AND a visual piece to accompany it - along with a brief presentation. Click here to access the project details http://tantasquamediaclass.weebly.com/honors-project.html 11/5/13 We will be taking Filmmaking notes for an upcoming quiz. 10/15/13 We will begin the movie scene re-creation project. Students will form into small groups and decide on an appropriate and meaningful movie scene to re-create. The chosen scenes should include many different camera angles and ample dialogue between actors (must have scene approved by the teacher). Movie scenes will be approximately 5 - 7 minutes in length. Students will obtain the scripts and make storyboards to utilize during production of the scenes. They will match each shot as used in the original movie. Students will also match props, wardrobe and various locations to match as closely to the movie as possible. Over this four week journey, students learn what goes into preproduction (research, scripting, writing, preparation of props, wardrobe and location scouting). They will also learn about the actual production process, recording scenes by following a movie script and storyboards, directing, acting, technical components such as proper exposure and good audio. The assignment is to watch a movie and evaluate it based on the questions on the Film Evaluation Form. Also add the 4 or 6 facts from www.imdb.com on the back of that form (6 facts if you are enrolled at the honors level). The Film Evaluation Form was handed out in class, however, can be downloaded from the file located on the left side of this screen under "Homework Support Files." 9/23/13 There will be a Quiz on Wednesday (9/25/13), based on the in-class DVD sample that will be replayed in class on Monday. Be able to identify the different camera angles and shots that we'e been working on since the first week of school. Week of 9/23/13 - 9/27/13 TV Commercial Post Production: Students will be digitally editing their raw footage into completed commercials. All commercials will include a Fade Up, Fade Down, a variety of transitions, Video Effects, Sound Effects, Titles/Graphics and Music. Week of 9/16/13 - 9/20/13 TV Commercial Production: Each Student is the Producer/Director of their own TV Commercial (from concept to completion). Each student is assigned a specific day to record the necessary elements and footage needed for the next phase of the process, post-production (Editing). Starting the week of 9/23/13, students will begin digital editing and piecing together their video footage to manipulate the footage in a creative, cohesive manner.
